Fire Place

I hate gold. (except white gold hehehe). I completed this simple job of spray painting the fire place trim with black bbq/grill paint which tolerates high heat. I hope it stays.. If not, I hear the door replacements are not very costly... But since we already had the BBQ, why not try :D

I already painted the top one on a previous day... so you only see me painting the bottom one and the finished product.

Ground cover

We couldnt stand this ground cover. There were weeds growing all over it and they were hard to pull out because i would get little bumps all over my arms if i touched it. It was also really prickley and rough when you touched it.
We replaced it with these dwarf evergreen globes that we got from Ed & Michele :)


Travis didnt like having the stones on the edges because of his yardwork /trimming. So we moved the stones under the Japanese Maple and added more mulch.



I plan to put some more little flowers around the endges, but im also thinking the globes will get bigger. So we'll see next summer!

Purpose

The reason for this blog is to keep track of all the things we've done to make our humble abode into our own piece of heaven. We purchased this house 03.06.09 and absolutely loved the yard, basement, spacious rooms and kitchen/morning room. I will be posting pictures of before-after and some action shots of us working. We have many many plans (some of them quite costly!) so over the years it will be interesting to see what we've done.
